North Clackamas Park covers 45 acres of fields, waterways and groves of mature oak trees. 30 minutes from downtown Portland, this park is rich with recreation opportunities. Bordered on the north and west by restored natural habitat along Kellogg and Mount Scott Creeks, North Clackamas Park includes shaded picnic areas, a covered picnic shelter, softball fields and a fenced arena. Amenities include two playgrounds, walking paths, horseshoe pits and a large rose garden.

A wide, paved trail connects many of the amenities in the park, most with accessible features.

Our suggested loop starts at the main parking lot at the covered picnic shelter and accessible bathrooms. Here you will find drinking fountains, a bike rack and benches. Follow the sidewalk toward the sports fields and you will connect to the wide, paved perimeter trail. There are many benches, picnic tables and trash cans along this route.

The first amenity you encounter is a horse arena and large natural surface parking lot. It is free to the public. As you continue on the trail, you will discover 2 playgrounds with paved access ramps leading into the bark chip playground surface. Off the trail, 2 compact gravel access routes lead to viewpoints overlooking Mount Scott Creek.

To complete the loop, cross the edge of an open field when the paved trail ends. At the far end of the field will be a tunnel through dense foliage with a small bridge, before connecting back to the sidewalk. There is no clear path or signage from the paved trail to the bridge. There may be a transition higher than 2 inches at the bridge.

Outside of the trail loop, the fenced off-leash dog area, rose garden and the Milwaukie Center are located in different areas with separate parking off the main entrance road. This park is no longer accessed by bus at the Milwaukie Center. The park opens at 7 am and closes at dusk.
